Gena is a young Basset Hound mix girl who was surrendered to a pound in Kentucky and who has been through some rough times during her early weeks of life, but now she's here in New York in a wonderful foster home and enjoying good health and a great life! Gena is shy when first meeting humans, but she is very cuddly and loving once she knows someone. She will act submissive when first meeting new people and if frightenend, she will submissive urinate. She is playful, enjoys other gentle playful dogs, and tolerates cats well. Her days are spent playing with an endless toy collection and she is particularly fond of balls and Nylabones. Gena is strongly food motivated and therefore has been easy to train. Her housebreaking skills are coming along nicely and she is crate trained. She now knows commands to go to her crate, sit, down, come, and fetch. She is often observed carrying blankets, dog dishes, shoes, and other movable objects around her foster house. Gena's new home should have a fenced in yard, a quiet environment with adults, and she should have human interaction during the day (she adores attention!) Her adoption fee is $250 and includes her spay and age appropriate vaccinations. Applicants should reside within a 50 mile radius of Ithaca, NY so that one of our volunteers can do a home inspection.
